The game

Welcome to the Archives

A black envelope slipped under your door, a wax seal with a broken circle, a single sentence: “Come before midnight. Come ready to lose something.” No address, only seven fragments to put back in order.

They lead you to the Archives of the Black Harvest, a secret circle that vanished decades ago. The five-seat dinner, the mirror room, the Dark Room and its Desire cards, the candle ritual, the confession: every act opens with a puzzle, and everyone reads their sealed folds in secret.

The challenges rise act after act until midnight, where one question awaits its answer: who is the fifth guest? For two, Subject A and Subject B. For four, the Witness, the Keeper, the Seeker and the Temptation.

How a game unfolds

  1. 01Choose your version, for two or for four, and share out the roles.
  2. 02Seal the Pact: Ink, keep going. Pass, the gentle version. Sealed, stop everything. Everyone states their ceiling.
  3. 03In every act, read your folds in secret, solve the puzzle, then take up the challenge.
  4. 04Note your forfeits: at midnight, they decide your ending.

What you needWith what you have: a pen and paper, a blindfold (or a scarf), two soft scarves, ice cubes, a mirror (or the black TV screen), four candles (or four phone lights), slow music, an armchair and something to nibble.

Which version should we choose?

The version for two is played as a couple, Subject A and Subject B. The version for four brings two couples together, with four roles drawn by lot.

Are the puzzles hard?

No: every puzzle has a hint and only one right answer. A mistake costs a forfeit, then you can see the answer and carry on.

Do we need to print the game?

No. The PDF is interactive and designed for a phone or tablet: you move forward by tapping the buttons.

What if a challenge goes too far for us?

Everyone chooses their ceiling before starting, every challenge has its gentle version, and the word Sealed stops the game at any time.
